LaCie Rugged SSD Portable 1TB vs WD My Passport SSD Portable 1TB — Which Portable SSD Is Faster & Better Value?
Compare LaCie Rugged SSD Portable 1TB and WD My Passport SSD Portable 1TB side by side. Both are 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 external SSDs, but they differ in speed, design, and value. Here's how they stack up.
LaCie
The Rugged SSD without the Pro - same IP67 orange body but USB-C Gen 2 instead of Thunderbolt. The right compromise for photographers and documentarians whose laptops do not have Thunderbolt anyway and want the ruggedization at a more reasonable price.
Western Digital
A 1TB WD My Passport SSD with a slim profile and 256-bit AES hardware encryption. The slim metal-and-plastic body is half the thickness of WD's non-SSD My Passport HDD — both USB-C and USB-A cables are included, removing the classic "Mac needs a converter" hassle.
Spec Comparison
